Rainer Schaller's RSG Group has set 20 September as the opening date for its first John Reed health club in the UK.

The 2,000sq m (22,000sq ft) site will be spread over two floors and is located at the mixed-use 100 Liverpool Street development, designed by Hopkins Architects.

The club will house a large functional group training space, a gym floor, boxing arena, personal training area, free weights zone, hot yoga studio and sauna.

Group training classes will include Barre, Hot Pilates, Hot Yoga, Pump, Boxing and HIIT.

The ground floor will feature a dedicated, pop-up retail space, merging London and Berlin designers to offer exclusive gym wear pieces from resident brands.

The space will also feature a DJ booth and transform into a VIP events space.

The John Reed brand's signature element – music – will also feature heavily, with an "energetic mix of tracks" designed to intensify the training experience. There will also be regular live DJ sessions from local and international artists.

The London club will be the 40th John Reed location worldwide, with clubs in 10 countries – including Germany, Turkey, Netherlands, USA and the UK.

Schaller, founder and CEO of RSG, said: “With 17 brands already across the world, the RSG Group has had a long ambition to enter the UK market.

"We're extremely excited to officially open up our fitness and music club John Reed in London and to celebrate this as our 40th club, is a huge milestone.

"Just like Berlin and Los Angeles, London is a vibrant, diverse, metropolis with many cultures in every respect.

"We visualise London as the door to Europe and for John Reed – it could not be a better match.”

RSG plans to open further John Reed clubs across the European market this year, including in France and the Netherlands.

RSG Group's portfolio comprises 17 fitness brands – including Gold's Gym, McFIT, John Reed, High5, and Cyberobics.
