Rainer Maelzer joins Therme Group as chief entertainment officer

Rainer Maelzer, an experiential entertainment innovator, has been appointed chief entertainment officer by Therme Group

With decades of experience in Immersive Water-based attractions, Maelzer will lead the development and global delivery of the company’s recreational and wellbeing experiences.

Maelzer told Spa Business: “As chief entertainment officer, I look forward to integrating dynamic water-based attractions into the wellbeing landscape across Therme Group’s destinations. By bringing my experience in experiential entertainment to Therme Group, I hope to further advance the mission of creating immersive environments that have a unique harmony of architecture, art and entertainment. 

“As we continue redefining the intersection of entertainment and Wellness, we seek to set Safety and emotional standards throughout our facilities globally. I’m excited to further elevate thermal experiences beyond functionality into something deeply engaging, emotionally resonant and truly memorable.”

Maelzer’s expertise encompasses Guest experience, engineering, project Management and innovation. 

He was previously the founder of wiegand.maelzer, the company that has created the signature attraction systems found across existing Therme Group entertainment projects. He has also served as president of WhiteWater ERA, a Water park construction and project management company.

Maelzer will work closely with Therme Ent GmbH, Therme Group’s subsidiary responsible for shaping the group’s creative and operational entertainment offerings globally.
