The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, in Malaysia, has revealed a schedule for Global Wellness Day (GWD) that includes guided rainforest walks, mindful movement and guided coastal meditation experiences.

Founded in 2012 by Belgin Aksoy in Turkey, GWD is a non-profit movement dedicated to promoting the power of wellness. The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, is taking part in the worldwide celebration of the movement’s 15th anniversary on 13 June. The theme is #JoyMagenta.

The Property’s schedule for the day begins with a guided sunrise rainforest walk along the property’s trail dedicated to jungle treks and beach excursions. The experience will include a mindful breathwork journey that takes place within the lush forest for a meaningful connection with nature.

A breakfast will then be served, comprising responsibly sourced and locally inspired dishes that showcase the region’s culinary heritage.

In the early evening, a gentle yoga session will take guests through slow, mindful movements and gentle stretches to release tension. 

A sunset meditation will also take place, overlooking the Andaman Sea from the resort’s private shore. 

Spa treatments will also be on offer at a discounted rate. Between 7 and 14 June, the Ritz-Carlton Spa is giving guests who book a 60-minute Stress Relief Massage an extended 90-minute wellness journey. This is a tailored experience designed to restore balance and encourage deep relaxation. The experience costs MYR550 (US$130, €120, £102) per person.

Jasmin Shamsuddin, director of wellness at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, told Spa Business how these experiences align with GWD’s theme of #JoyMagenta: “At The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, we believe true wellness is not only about relaxation, but about creating meaningful moments that restore the spirit and spark joy from within. Joy is often rediscovered in moments of stillness, connection and presence, and this year’s Global Wellness Day theme, #JoyMagenta, beautifully reflects the emotional renewal guests experience when immersed in Langkawi’s ancient rainforest, healing traditions and restorative rituals.
