The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, in Malaysia, has revealed a schedule for Global Wellness Day (GWD) that includes guided rainforest walks, mindful movement and guided coastal meditation experiences.

Founded in 2012 by Belgin Aksoy in Turkey, GWD is a non-profit movement dedicated to promoting the power of wellness. The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, is taking part in the worldwide celebration of the movement’s 15th anniversary on 13 June. The theme is #JoyMagenta.

The Property’s schedule for the day begins with a guided sunrise rainforest walk along the property’s trail dedicated to jungle treks and beach excursions. The experience will include a mindful breathwork journey that takes place within the lush forest for a meaningful connection with nature.

A breakfast will then be served, comprising responsibly sourced and locally inspired dishes that showcase the region’s culinary heritage.

In the early evening, a gentle yoga session will take guests through slow, mindful movements and gentle stretches to release tension.

A sunset meditation will also take place, overlooking the Andaman Sea from the resort’s private shore.

Spa treatments will also be on offer at a discounted rate. Between 7 and 14 June, the Ritz-Carlton Spa is giving guests who book a 60-minute Stress Relief Massage an extended 90-minute wellness journey. This is a tailored experience designed to restore balance and encourage deep relaxation. The experience costs MYR550 (US$130, €120, £102) per person.

Jasmin Shamsuddin, director of wellness at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, told Spa Business how these experiences align with GWD’s theme of #JoyMagenta: “At The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, we believe true wellness is not only about relaxation, but about creating meaningful moments that restore the spirit and spark joy from within. Joy is often rediscovered in moments of stillness, connection and presence, and this year’s Global Wellness Day theme, #JoyMagenta, beautifully reflects the emotional renewal guests experience when immersed in Langkawi’s ancient rainforest, healing traditions and restorative rituals.

“Surrounded by a 10-million-year-old rainforest and the tranquil waters of the Andaman Sea, our wellness philosophy centres on creating immersive experiences that honour both the destination and the individual journey of each guest. Guided by traditional Malay healing philosophies and the natural rhythms of Langkawi, our wellness experiences encourage guests to slow down, reconnect with nature and embrace a renewed sense of wellbeing. Nature has an extraordinary ability to heal, ground and inspire joy, and we seek to bring this connection to life through every thoughtfully curated touchpoint across the resort.

“From mindful breathwork beneath the rainforest canopy to indigenous-inspired spa journeys overlooking the Andaman Sea, regenerative spa rituals, mindful movement and nourishing culinary experiences, every experience has been carefully designed to nurture balance, awaken the senses and inspire a deeper connection to self and nature. Ultimately, we hope our guests leave feeling lighter, calmer and deeply restored – which lies at the very heart of our Global Wellness Day celebration and the spirit of #JoyMagenta.”
