Regent Inns acquires Old Orleans for £26m
Hertfordshire-based pub operator Regent Inns has acquired the Old Orleans restaurant chain from Punch Taverns for £26m.
The Old Orleans portfolio consists of 29 outlets, plus two other properties branded as Quincey’s.
Regent Inns plans to invest in improving the marketing of the brand in order to increase customer awareness of the outlets in high footfall leisure developments and high street locations.
Bob Ivell, executive chair of Regent Inns, said: “We believe that Old Orleans will benefit from being a core part of the company and from our experienced retailing focus.
“It will provide a good third platform for future growth for Regent Inns and enhance shareholder value.”
Punch Taverns’ chief executive, Giles Thorley, said: “The transaction is in line with our strategy to simplify the managed house business following the acquisition of Spirit in January 2006.”
Regent Inns already owns the Australian-themed Walkabout pub chain and Jongleurs comedy clubs. Details: www.regentinns.co.uk
