Renovation for Oxfordshire leisure centre's gym
South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is to undertake a £360,000 revamp of the gym at Thame Leisure Centre, with work due to start on 27 February.
The council-funded project will include the creation of a studio for spinning and low-impact classes. A new vibration plate training and exercise room is also planned with three PowerPlates.
Meanwhile, existing equipment will be complemented with the addition of seven new machines from Technogym and Concept2. The gym's dedicated changing facilities will be overhauled, with energy efficient measures to be implemented.
SODC cabinet member for leisure Bill Service said: "The work will make a real difference to Thame Leisure Centre, providing more space for our popular classes and more equipment for the gym."
The entire refurbishment is due for completion by mid-May, with work on the upstairs gym to take a month. GLL Nexus operates the venue on behalf of SODC.
