Revised York stadium plans put on show
The developer behind a proposed community stadium scheme in York, which will provide a new home for the city's football and rugby league clubs, has put its revised plans on show.
A number of changes, such as new all-weather pitches, have been made by Oakgate (Monks Cross) to its planning application, which was submitted to the local authority in September.
The scheme will include a 6,000-seat venue, which can be expanded to 12,000; 3G floodlit games courts; and a community hub, as well as new athletics facilities elsewhere in the city.
It comes the City of York Council's cabinet prepares to discuss the proposals tomorrow (6 March), with members being asked to back the Oakgate-led project and to approve a funding contribution.
Members will be told that York City Football Club would not be able to stay full-time if the project does not proceed, while York City Knights would face "considerable uncertainty".
