Saltex 2012 in September will see the launch by Charterhouse Turf Machinery of three new items of maintenance equipment, two for natural turf and one for synthetic.

The new Redexim Verti-Drain 1517, larger sister to the 1513, has a working width of 1.76M and handles depths of up to 50mm (6in). Weighing in at 520kg it only needs a tractor from 28hp to pull it. Options include hollow tines; turf hold down fingers and a rear roller.

The new Redexim Turf-Stripper 1200 is a fraise mower designed to remove the top layer of the pitch, an action which removes weeds, thatch and shallow rooted grass from a playing surface leaving the deeper rooted grass plants to flourish. The machine has a working width of 1.2M (49.2in) and is capable of removing up to 50mm (2in) of the surface. Removal of the turf is by 14 discs with four cutter knives on each. It is PTO driven with the recommended tractor in the order of a 30/40 HP variety.

The 1200 also has a big brother which is available in a 2m working width, the turf stripper 2000. Finally, the Redexim Verti-Top 1200 is a physically smaller machine but still has all the features of its stablemate.

It has a 1.2M (47.2in) working width and weighs 360kg, requiring only a 25hp tractor with a 400kg lift capacity. The Verti-Top 1200 maintains synthetic turf by removing, cleaning and redistributing the infill material.

A powerful vacuum system lifts fine particles such as dust, hair and broken fibres into a filter bag. Image: the Verti-Top 1200
