Two new downhill mountain biking tracks are set to be developed at mountain resort Nevis Range, near Fort William in Scotland after securing an investment of £111,629.

The funding - which comes as part of a £229,363 project - well see both the addition of a beginner and an intermediate downhill track as part of upgrades for the facility which hosted the recent UCI Mountain Biking World Cup.

The site will also see a jumps and skills area developed for training purposes with additional grants coming from the Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the West Highland Wheelers.

"We are delighted to be supporting (site operator) Nevis Range Development Company as it strives to enhance the reputation and accessibility of the site and cement its World Cup status," said sportscotland chair, Louise Martin.

Cycle Track supervisor, Damian Forster, also said: "This funding will help us to build easier trails for young and old, complementing the current World Cup and Red downhills, giving us all sorts of trails for cyclists."

The project is linked to previous investment from sportscotland dating back to 2010 with its black run and starter hut.
