Show gets skates on at the Dome
The popular TV show Dancing on Ice has provided an unexpected boost for the Doncaster Dome.
Since the series started ice staking figures at the Dome are up by 30 percent and ice skating lessons have increased by 15 percent.
Chief Executive, Gavin Baldwin, said: "Dancing on Ice has had a very positive impact on us. It has got everyone talking and the increase in attendances to our skating rink is excellent.
"The show has only been on air for a few weeks so we are expecting these figures to rise as the series continues."
The Dome runs skating lessons for all ages and abilities from beginners to those experienced skaters to sharpen their skills under the guidance of qualified coaches.
Baldwin added: “The health benefits of skating are often over looked but it really is an excellent way to get fit. The celebrities on the show are constantly commenting on how toned and in shape they are becoming,"
Doncaster Dome attracts around 1 million visitors each year – 350,000 of which use the ice skating facilities.
