Southwark's Burgess Park plans put on show
Southwark Council has held a series of planned workshops and events to enable residents and visitors to comment on plans for the renovation of Burgess Park, South London.
The proposed multi-million pound overhaul of the park secured a £2m grant from London mayor Boris Johnson as part of the Help A London Park initiative to help revitalise the capital's open spaces. Match funding worth £4m will be contributed through a partnership of the council and Aylesbury New Deal for Communities to help fund the scheme, which will include enhanced access to nature.
The removal of redundant roads and pathways; new planting projects; an upgraded lake; and improved entrances are among the proposals, which were displayed at drop-in sessions between 13-16 September.
