Spa benchmark comparisons revealed
Independent research company Intelligent Spas has revealed the latest in a series of benchmark reports, highlighting a number of differences across the Asia-Pacific spa market.
The company began conducting research in 2001 across the greater Asia-Pacific region.
The latest comparison of performance benchmarks took place in 2007 and has shown that Thailand is the largest spa market in the region. Researchers also found that New Zealand has the highest proportion of day spas while the Australian spa industry generated the most revenue.
Total spa industry visits and employment were highest in Thailand and hotel, resort and destination spas were in the highest proportion in Cambodia.
Intelligent Spas is also in the process of rolling out its first Global Spa Benchmark Program to more than 60 countries.
According to the company, the primary aim of the rollout is to build up a range of consistent key performance indicators that will be comparable across the entire spa industry. The Spa Benchmark Program is free to join and accessible via a special website. Details: spabenchmark.com
