Spa hotel to open in St Petersburg
The Holiday Club Spa Hotel on the island of Vasili in St Petersburg, Russia will open to the public this summer.
The property, which is owned by UK-based London & Regional Properties, is currently under construction and the spa wing is scheduled to open in September. The 276-room, 60m euro (£40m, US$78m) hotel will include seven restaurants, a large health and fitness facility and 12 conference rooms. The total area of construction is 25,000sq m (270,000sq ft).
Spa facilities will include treatment rooms, an extensive ‘sauna world’ – including hammams, saunas and steam rooms – as well as a number of swimming pools and a large relaxation area.
The spa will be located in the basement of the property, and original features of the existing building – which used to serve as a large cellar for storing wines – were used in the design.
The site will become the seventh spa to operate under a partnership deal between Finnish company Sokotel and London & Regional’s Finnish brand, Holiday Club.
According to the agreement, Sokotel will focus on the day-to-day operations of the hotel and spa, while Holiday Club will concentrate on developing a strong brand concept.
The partnership was announced in March 2006, when Sokotel agreed a management contract for Holiday Club’s portfolio of six Finnish spa resorts.
Sokotel is part of the Finnish company Suomen Osuuskauppojen Keskuskunta.
