With just four months to go until the third SIBEC Asia, Pelican Events – organiser of the three-day event - has confirmed who will be speaking.

Brian Hunter, Spa Director of the award-winning One Spa at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, will be sharing his tips on what makes a profitable and successful spa. Meanwhile, editor in chief of American Spa magazine, Mary Bemis, will be sharing her insights on upcoming trends in the spa market, including emerging niche markets and the growth of the medical spa.

SIBEC Asia is a networking event for senior level operators of fitness and spa facilities. Next year, it will take place from 26 – 28 February, 2004 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

As well as the conference, which runs twice a day, the event will offer delegates individual meeting appointments with suppliers to help them make purchasing decisions for the year ahead.

With Asian spas and health clubs still recovering from the effects of SARS, crisis management expert Bert Van Walbeek who was part of the PATA Bali task force, will also be speaking at the event, imparting critical advice on how to survive the unexpected; whilst Simon Flint from Fitness First Asia, will be discussing the opportunities for health club operators in China.

Delegates joining up for the business-to-business meetings event can also opt to do the Kota Kinabalu challenge beforehand. Pelican Events will be leading a group up South-East Asia’s highest peak to witness the sunrise over the landscape as a prelude to the intensive programme.
