Sport Relief calls for centre managers to host events
Comic Relief is searching for sports and leisure centre managers to help organise events for its Sport Relief fundraising campaign this summer.
Originally created by Comic Relief in association with BBC Sport, Sport Relief aims to tackle poverty and disadvantage both in this country and abroad. In its first year, 2002, it raised more than £14m.
This year, the campaign is Go the Extra Mile and Sport Relief is looking for people who have access to venues to galvanise 200-500 people into taking part in mile events such as time trial miles, freestyle miles and three-legged miles to raise money.
The events will all take place on Sport Relief Saturday on 10 July.
Various sporting heroes have already signed up to help Sport Relief this year, including Sir Steve Redgrave, Matt Dawson, Nick Faldo, Will Greenwood, Colin Jackson and Steve Cram. Details: email [email protected]
