Stockport County enters administration
Stockport County Football Club (SCFC) has been deducted 10 points by the Football League after it was forced to enter administration having failed to satisfy the demands of its creditors.
Despite attempts by the League One club's directors to clear what has been described as 'historic levels of debt', with one creditor owed £300,000, John Titley and Paul Reeves of Leonard Curtis were appointed joint administrators on 30 April. Titley said: "We are extremely hopeful that we will find a buyer for the club and are already aware of a number of expressions of interest. We are committed to working with the club's management team to resolve this situation as quickly as possible."
SCFC chief executive Séan Connolly revealed that the club will now relinquish any option it previously had on its Edgeley Park home, and is now in discussions with Sale Sharks Rugby Football Club and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council to develop a new stadium.
