Success for Stevenage golf juniors
The talented young golfers at the Stevenage Golf Centre have achieved success in the recently held National Association of Public Golf Courses Junior Championships of England.
Held at Tamworth Golf Club, the Stevenage Juniors, based at Stevenage Golf Centre, produced the winning team with Stevenage 'B' (comprising of Tom Farmer, Steven Lee, Rhys Mitchell and Gerry Holloran) recording a superb total net score of 277. Not far behind, the Stevenage 'C' team of P Hall, Tom Little, Joe Himsworth and Jack Mudd netted a total score of 283 to secure third place.
As well as team success, individual achievement came in the form of Rhys Mitchell who was the overall winner for best nett score. Tom Farmer, Tom Little and Joe Himsworth won the awards for best nett score in Divisions 1,2 and 3 respectively, whilst Tom Farmer was also runner up for the best gross score in the championship.
The success is recognition for the efforts and dedication of both the staff at the Stevenage Leisure Limited (SLL) managed Golf Centre, and the junior organisers of Stevenage Golf Club, who together have worked successfully in partnership to resurrect and develop junior golf at the Centre.
