Successful Royal Perth Show
Western Australia’s premier event, the very successful 2006 Perth Royal Show, concluded on 7 October.
In conjunction with Brownes Dairy, the RASWA took the initiative by offering free gate entry for children under 12 years on the Wednesday.
Participants merely handed in an empty milk carton at the gate. The initiative proved very successful, with record crowds taking advantage.
Along with other discount arrangements in place for later in Show week, patrons enjoyed wonderful opportunities in additional value once inside the grounds.
In addition to the usual high standard of attractions at the Perth Show, the Nitro and Power Surge, two stunning newcomers in the major thrill ride stakes, made their debut. Rides of this calibre are major drawcards for the Show and reflect the high level of commitment by West Australian Showmen.
These new attractions alongside a high standard of presentation with other attractions, provided a vibrant and exciting atmosphere in the sideshow area, with something for everyone. Operators reported a good result from the show.
Unlike the five days of rain experienced in 2005, only Tuesday’s wet and windy weather, gave reason for concern.
The RASWA initiative of providing a dedicated manned Emergency Services Office for the show’s duration, by phoning one telephone number for First Aid, Police and other emergency services worked well.
On receiving any incident report, a professional team immediately and efficiently swung into gear, not only reducing possible risk to other show goers, but also minimising the opportunity for unwarranted bad press. There were only a few incidents of a minor nature, but it is considered the new measure provides for good planning and is an excellent preventative measure.
