Swimming pool equipment supplier Suntrap Systems has just completed an order for 64 disabled pool hoists to Hilton Hotels and Living Well Health Clubs.

In a move designed to comply with the provisions of the DDA legislation, both orders saw the installation of the Spectrum ‘Elkhorn’ hoist, Suntrap having the UK distribution rights for the U.S.-made Spectrum range.

The company has also recently supplied a Lolo disabled hoist to Potters Leisure Centre in Great Yarmouth and have been specified to supply four Pintlar hoists to Belfast City Council.

Apart from two models which have been designed for above ground spas, all of Spectrum’s hoists are moveable and this includes the manual Elkhorn unit.

Two new models have been introduced this year, one of which is the water-powered Lolo, the budget option to the more commercial Pintlar and Gallatin. The Lolo can lift a weight of 300lbs and the Pintlar and Gallatin 400lbs, all at 55psi water pressure.

The other new hoist is the battery operated Traveler – for which Suntrap has just received an order from the Royal Oldham Hospital – which can be operated by the disabled user or an attendant or carer by remote control.
