Swansea leisure centre on schedule
A £32m leisure centre development in Swansea is scheduled to be finished in December, ahead of schedule.
The first floor of the leisure centre will accommodate a health and fitness suite.
A new water park attraction will include a surf area, lazy river and children’s interactive pool as well as a wave generator.
The lazy river will flow at different speeds and will incorporate two fan sprays to produce an arc of water tumbling into the attraction.
The children’s interactive pool will include a 3m high tipping bucket to unload gallons of water every eight minutes, as well as waterfalls, water cannons, wall jets and fountains.
The Master Blaster flume ride will include water-propelled uphill sections.
In addition, a multi-use sports hall at the leisure centre will host events ranging from sports activities to exhibitions.
Swansea council’s leader, Cllr Chris Holley, said: “The water park area will be the size of a football pitch, which is about a third bigger than the previous pool area.
“We are continuing to make progress on site and we remain on time and on budget. The refurbished leisure centre will be a fantastic destination, offering a huge range of rides, fun and entertainment for all the family.
“It will attract visitors from all over the country and will be a massive boost for tourism in Swansea.” Details: www.swansea.gov.uk
