Swansea to secure Dylan Thomas legacy
Swansea Council and the University of Wales are in the final stage of talks over a new deal that could preserve the city's long-term legacy of Dylan Thomas.
It is hoped that an agreement will be struck that will see the Dylan Thomas Centre retain its name and becoming home to an exhibition dedicated to the poet. The new deal will also see the attraction housing one of the world's highest cash prizes for young writers - the University of Wales Dylan Thomas Prize.
Meanwhile, the university would relocate to the Dylan Thomas Centre with plans to create a new base for culture, business and academia. Swansea Council head of culture and tourism Iwan Davies said: "The proposed agreement with the University would secure Dylan Thomas' legacy in his home city of Swansea."
