The National Gallery to gain new Peyton eaterie
A new Oliver Peyton café is to open in the East Wing of London’s National Gallery on 18 October, to coincide with the launch of the Velàzquez exhibition.
The 3,000sq ft (280sq m) National Café will have its own entrance on St Martin’s Lane and is Peyton’s second site to open at the gallery, following The National Dining Rooms.
Designed by David Collins, the café will boast 130 covers and feature a waiter service brasserie, a self-service area, an espresso bar and a private dining room.
The menu will focus on modern, European food, while the café will be open daily from 8am until 10pm.
Peyton said: “It is my aim to ensure the National Gallery, with the Dining Rooms and Café, becomes a world-renowned eating destination. I am delighted to be able to offer a truly rounded choice of eateries at different price points to appeal to gallery visitors and Londoners alike, whatever their budgets.” Details: www.nationalgallery.org.uk
