The Tank Museum to launch new exhibit
The Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset, is to open a new exhibition charting the story of the current Afghanistan campaign.
The Battle Group Afghanistan exhibition – designed in partnership by the Tank Museum and Devon-based exhibition designer Imagemakers – tells the tale of soldiers fighting in Afghanistan through their own words and relays to the public the dangers they face in the field.
It will also see the displaying of four new vehicles used in the Afghanistan conflict - the Viking, CVR(T), Jackal and Panther.
All but one have been loaned to the museum by the armed forces specifically for the exhibition, which opens on 9 April.
The exhibition's audio visual installations were designed and supplied by DJ Willrich.
David Willey, the museum's curator, said: "In this exhibition we have put the serving soldiers centre stage and it is they that tell the story. We have used the interviews we conducted with them within the exhibition, and these audio visual points form an essential part of the experience."
