Therme Group has announced it will develop its first wellbeing oasis in Singapore, creating a large-scale social wellbeing infrastructure project worth S$1 billion (US$768 million, €664 million, £507 million).

The Singapore Tourism Board signed off on the tender for a wellness attraction at the Marina South Coastal site.

The project will range across a 4-hectare waterfront site, next to the scenic waterway and dam Marina Barrage and the famous botanical attraction called Gardens by the Bay.

Dr Robert Hanea, founder and CEO of Therme Group, said: "Therme Group is pioneering the future of wellbeing at scale globally. Our winning proposal for the Marina South Coastal site is an honour and a reflection of our shared vision for how cities can integrate wellbeing into everyday life.

“In Singapore, we are creating a destination for residents and visitors alike – a place where wellness, culture and nature come together,” added Hanea. “Backed by decades of science and innovation, Therme Singapore will be a state-of-the-art facility that transforms urban life by making holistic health enjoyable and accessible to all."

Therme Singapore is being designed by DP Architects and Therme Arc (Therme Group’s in-house design firm). The property will integrate water, nature and architecture to become an urban wellness haven.

The site is expected to attract more than two million visitors per year when it reaches full operational capacity. It is estimated that half of those visitors will be from overseas.

Mah Bow Tan, chair of Therme Group Asia, said: “We will create a welcoming space that caters to people of all ages and backgrounds, promoting healthy living, social connection and community wellbeing. We will partner with local organisations and enterprises to activate the surrounding public spaces and make this another jewel of Marina Bay.”

The site will have thermal pools, lush botanical gardens, art installations and advanced health technology.

The attraction will also incorporate Therme Group’s sustainability solutions, including its technology for high-efficiency water recycling and other energy solutions.

Therme expansion

Therme Group has been accelerating its expansion around the world.

Therme Korea-Incheon in South Korea’s Dongdo International Business District took a step further towards construction recently, as Therme Group increases its foothold in Asia.
