Tokyo Disney announces new attraction
The Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan, has announced that it is to build a new 6bn yen (£39.2m, US$61.2m, 48m euro) 3D-theatre attraction.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic will be 450-seat theatre and will replace the existing Mickey Mouse Revue, which will close in May next year in order to make way for the new attraction.
According to a statement from Oriental Land Co, the owner of the resort, “guests will be invited into the theatre for an orchestra concert, but Donald Duck causes a commotion, taking the guests into a musical whirlwind through popular Disney films”.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic, which will also have a merchandise shop, is expected to open in 2011.
Tokyo Disney and its sister park Tokyo DisneySea are the only Disney parks not owned by the Walt Disney Company.
