Trifitness club for Scottish Borders
Borders Sport and Leisure Trust has teamed up with Heriot-Watt University and Borders College to create a health and fitness centre for the Scottish Borders.
The new £400,000, 760sq m club, to be called Trifitness, will be located in Galashiels and will boast a fitness suite offering a wide range of cv, resistance and free weight equipment.
There will also be a purpose built dance studio that will be used to host a programme of exercise classes.
The centre will be managed by Borders Sport and Leisure Trust and will replace an existing fitness facility based at the Jackson Building in Galashiels.
Trifitness will provide sport and exercise facilities for both Borders College and Heriot-Watt University students and staff and will be the home to the College's Borders Academy of Sporting Excellence (BASE).
Heriot-Watt University's secretary Peter Wilson, said, "These joint proposals provide all users with improved facilities and which, for our students, are closer to the campus and at a cost comparable to their counterparts at Edinburgh.
"The arrangement also means that our existing staff, who have both experience and commitment to serving their customers, will be able to continue to do so at the new Centre."
