Two hurt in HMS Belfast gangway collapse
Two contractors sustained minor injuries and around 170 people had to be evacuated from HMS Belfast yesterday (29 November) after the gangway leading to the ship collapsed.
London Fire Brigade said firefighters from Whitechapel, Dowgate and its river boat service attended the scene, with the contractors taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Imperial War Museum - operator of HMS Belfast - said: "The ship will be closed until further notice.
"Health and Safety executives have been on site this afternoon and we will comply fully with their investigations. Our priority is ensuring all our visitors and staff are safe."
