Two sites proposed for Cambridge stadium
Cambridge United Football Club (CUFC) is a step closer to a new home after the owner of its current R Costings Abbey Stadium named two preferred sites for a replacement venue.
Working in partnership with the non-league club and its Youth and Community Trust, it has been proposed that a new stadium be built at Trumpington or the former NIAB site. The Trumpington site is currently joint-owned by Grosvenor, while the NIAB site owner is Barratt Homes, who are said to be interested in entering discussions regarding the project.
Both sites, however, are located on green belt land and Grosvenor said there are "significant challenges for planning the construction on either site".
