The UK Fitness Network (UKFN) held its second staff conference on Tuesday 15th September 2010 at the fantastic Crystal Palace National Sports Centre Centre.

The UKFN is a collaboration of the UK Leisure trusts, who's ambition is to join up the UK's trust run leisure centres, born out of the successful London Fitness Network pilot scheme which launched January 2004, the UKFN is a group of 13 likeminded not for profit leisure trusts operating 126 leisure centres across the UK.

The UKFN was formed in February this 2009 and agreed to make communication and the sharing of ideas and best practice at the heart of its priorities.

Over 150 trust staff attended the event, ranging from Receptionists to Fitness Instructors, and from Sales staff to Duty Managers. The content was delivered by a group of the trusts senior managers and guest speakers; sessions included a Keynote speech by Tim Anitiss, an active team building session, an interactive Sales breakout lead by Sally Marsh, and a Customer Service session delivered by Mike Hill, with the event cumulating in the 2010 UKFN Staff Awards.

Congratulations to the UKFN winners:

Sales Person of the Year - Danielle Davies (Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre - GLL)

Receptionist of the Year - Linda Boult (Thame Leisure Centre - Nexus Community) Trust of the Year - Westway Development Trust (Portobello Green Fitness Centre)

Following a comprehensive evaluation on the event over 96 per cent of delegates were keen to attend next years UKFN conference, so the UKFN team are now busy planning the 2011 conference!

The event was kindly sponsored by Proleisure, Taylor Made Designs, Birdsall, Insite, Baxtorstory, Lifetime, Leisure-net, HTI and the Fitness Industry Association.
