UK Fitness Network set to launch this year
After a year in the planning, the UK Fitness Network (UKFN) is now set to be launched in the leisure trust sector in 2008.
Growing out of the successful London Fitness Network, which allows members to access facilities at 85 public-sector run leisure centres throughout the capital, the UKFN will take the scheme nationwide.
Following a survey of members of the Sports and Recreation Trusts Association (SpoRTA), which found that 72 per cent of trusts were interested in joining and a further 19 per cent would consider joining, the network is now looking to those organisations to confirm their interest in signing their facilities up to the scheme.
The not for profit UKFN will be owned by the participating trusts, and founder members will receive one voting right per leisure centre.
Representatives of UKFN will be touring the country throughout January to discuss the scheme:
London & South: 25/1/08 10.30am-12pm Hailsham Leisure Centre, BN27 2AX.
Central: 23/1/08 10.30am-12pm King George Pavilion, Hatfield. Wales/South West: 29/1/08 10.30am-12pm Bradley Stoke LC, BS32 9BS.
North West: 18/1/08 10.30am – 12pm Oldham Leisure Centre, OL1 3HA. North East: 17/1/08 2.00pm – 4pm Barnsley Metrodome, S71 1AN.
