The Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio, US, has added a number of new elements during the past year, as part of its strategy to expand its visitor attraction offer.

Among new additions are a multi-purpose dome, called Center for Performance; the ForeverLawn Sports Complex; a new Play-Action Plaza – including the Forward Pass Zip Line; and a huge retail area called the Fan Engagement Zone.

The Hall of Fame Village is owned and operated by the The Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company and is a multi-use sports, entertainment and media destination built around the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame was first opened in 1963 and celebrates the history and greatest players of the National Football League (NFL).

It has since grown into a multi-element sports and entertainment resort, which also houses the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, a 23,000-capacity stadium which hosts the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game and serves as the home field for the football teams from Canton McKinley High School.

The latest additions are part of the second phase of the resort's ambitious, three-phase development plans.

Other projects in the second phase, yet to be completed, include a 147,000sq ft football-themed waterpark with waterslide tower, lazy river, wave pool, swim up bar and outdoor entertainment area.

Phase two also includes a a seven-story, 154,000sq ft premium Hilton Tapestry Hotel, featuring 180 guestrooms, health club, swimming pool and a 106-seat restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.

Exact details for phase three are yet to be confirmed, but will include further attractions as well as dining and accommodation options.
