Victoria House space pods
Garbe UK's refurbishment of the Grade II listed Victoria House on Bloomsbury Square, Holborn is due for completion at the end of the year.
The project has created 215,000sq ft of offices on the upper seven floors and 7,000sq ft of retail on the ground floor. A 19,000sq ft restaurant and 42,000sq ft health club will occupy the basement.
Unique to the development are four 'pods' designed by Will Alsop to be suspended in the two central glass atria. Two larger pods will provide two levels of office space while the lower pods will provide open seating areas. The pods add an additional 1,500sq ft of floorspace in what would have been dead space.
