Weston Park appoints Mivan for £3m fit out
Sheffield’s Weston Park Museum, the former City Museum and Mappin Art Gallery, has appointed Ulster-based theming specialist Mivan to fit out all of its six gallery spaces.
The £3m contract will see Mivan work on the Arctic World, What on Earth!, About Art and Treasures and the Sheffield Life and Times galleries.
The project, expected to begin autumn this year has been designed by Yorkshire-based Redman Design.
Mivan's work involves the detailed design of interactive exhibits, graphics, floor and wall finishes and the co-ordination of all subcontractors.
James Hicken, business development manager for Mivan, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Redman Design again, after our joint success with Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.”
The museum closed in March 2003 to undergo a £17.3m revamp funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Sheffield City Council and other public and private sources.
The museum is due to re-open as Weston Park Museum in the spring 2006.
