Weston-super-Mare Grand Pier owners awarded MBE
Brother and sister Kerry and Michelle Michaels, owners of Weston-super-Mare Grand Pier have had their efforts following a devastating fire at the pier in 2008 recognised by being awarded an MBE.
The fire, caused by an electrical fault, destroyed the pier a mere five months after the siblings purchased it in February 2008.
Since the fire, the Michaels have refurbished the pier to the highest quality securing its place as a popular tourist attraction. Despite their huge efforts, the pair are extremely humble about their achievements with brother Kerry emphasising the huge contribution from the many people involved; stating that that they "are delighted to be going to the palace to collect this honour on their behalf".
BALPPA would like to congratulate Kerry and Michelle Michael on their award and wish them every success for the future.
