White Water Weekend at Tees Barrage
Over 200 kayakers from 28 universities from all over Britain descended on Tees Barrage International White Water Centre to compete at the British Universities and Colleges Championships.
The event was held over 2 days in glorious weather which increased the number of spectators as regulars walkers on the Tees shoreline were treated to some spectacular action. With competitors from as far north as Dundee and Bath to the South were competing in a team competition which was eventually won by Loughborough University who narrowing beat Nottingham Trent.
Simon White Head of Adventurous Activities at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre said: "This was a fantastic event and definitely created interest amongst the people who were walking in the vicinity and stayed to see some spectacular action on the course. Events like this really create a fantastic atmosphere around the Tees."
