Work begins on Bosley Locks
Work has begun on the restoration of the historic Bosley Locks on the Macclesfield Canal in Cheshire.
The project will take around eight weeks to complete and will see the side ponds and lock quadrants being revamped. Work will also include the installation of narrative story boards detailing the history and heritage of the site.
The project has been funded jointly by British Waterways and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Sara Hilton, head of the Heritage Lottery Fund in the North West, said: "The UK's waterways are an iconic part of our landscape, capturing part of our industrial past and housing a rich variety of wildlife.
"This exciting project will involve the local community in protecting Bosley locks for future generations, and help bring history to life for everyone to enjoy."
