Work begins on Warriors Swim Centre
Work has begun on transforming the Warriors Swim Centre in Southend into a specialist centre for swimming and diving.
Ipswich-based ISG Jackson has been appointed to construct the new centre, which will be built on Garon Park.
Facilities at the centre will include an eight-lane, 25m swimming pool with space for 450 spectators, an international-standard diving pool, a learning pool and a dry diving training area with specialist harnesses and trampolines.
The centre will act as a Pre Games Training Camp for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The centre has been funded by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and will be operated on behalf of the council by Creating Leisure.
