Worsley Pool revamp reaches completion

A £4m refurbishment of Fit City Worsley Pool in Salford has reached completion.

The revamped centre now comprises a 42-station gym featuring CV equipment from the Life Fitness 95 range and LCD entertainment screens, as well as a range of equipment from the Signature Series and freeweights.

Additional facilities include new changing rooms – including cubicles for families, people with disabilities and school groups – a new activity room for exercise classes and an extended car park.

Funding came from The Big Lottery Fund and Salford City Council.

Peter Shelley, fitness manager, said: “We have a fitness facility that is aesthetically pleasing as well as practical and user-friendly. Membership has doubled in the last three months.”

The centre was closed for work on site in April 2006.
