XF Gym has announced its second UK site, at St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool, taking over a former Wilko retail store.

XF Gyms launched its first UK site in a shopping centre near Dudley at the end of last year.

The new 30,000sq fit health club will include an expansive open-plan workout zone, a women-only space, group exercise studios offering yoga, HIIT, boxing, dance and cycling and luxury changing facilities. It is scheduled to open in Q3 2025.

Laurence Benson, CEO at XF Gyms says: “XF Gym is thrilled to bring its unique fitness experience to the heart of Liverpool – a city built on ambition, resilience and unbreakable community spirit. Values that define XF Gym.

“St Johns Shopping Centre is the perfect home for our expansion," said Benson. “With its central location and excellent transport connections, we’re making world-class training facilities, market-leading wellness spaces and a supportive community more accessible than ever.”

Averaging one million visitors per month, St Johns Shopping Centre is home to a number of popular brands, including JD Sports, Aldi, Liverpool FC Store, Sainsbury’s, Home Bargains, Argos and Matalan, as well as food and beverage and independent retailers.

The company is connected to Axel Lankes, a former shareholder of German operator Xtrafit, which has 18 locations open in Germany across 13 major cities and an additional studio reopening in Cologne this year, however, the two companies do not have any mutual shareholdings or connections.
