Two of YMCA London South West's Y+ Fitness gyms are set for refurbishment this year, with YMCA Surbiton leading the way. The gyms' transformation includes redecoration and rebranding, featuring giant Y+ logo's, as well as the addition of new equipment from Precor.

Surbiton's 285sq m Y+ Fitness suite reopened at the end of June, by two time World heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon and features 32 Precor CV stations including treadmills, AMT's, recumbent and upright bikes. The resistance area features 16 pieces of Precor S-Line and Icarian strength equipment covering both upper and lower body and a free weights section. The new equipment also includes a seated inner-outer thigh machine, which was requested by gym members.

Refurbishment of the IFI accredited YMCA Hawker Centre's 225sq m Y+ Fitness gym is part of a larger development that will continue over the next eighteen months and will eventually feature a new purpose built studio, refurbished café and soft play facility, as well as the redecorated fitness area showcasing new Precor CV and strength equipment.

Debbie Camp, Director of Corporate Services and Y+ Fitness at YMCA London South West comments: "We are really excited about the redecorating and refurbishment of our Y+ Fitness gyms. It will allow us to be even more competitive in the sector, while ensuring we are still able to offer good value memberships and remain inclusive. Being competitive and offering a great service is important to us because all surpluses (profits) that we make from Y+ Fitness and our other social enterprises are used to fund programmes for the young homeless people we house and other work with local disabled groups or vulnerable children. So each gym membership or class fee can make a real positive difference in our community."

Jez Whitling, Sales Director at Precor said: "Y+ Fitness gyms provide good quality, affordable fitness facilities. Both Surbiton and the Hawker Centre already feature Precor equipment and as members are familiar with how to use it and like it we are pleased to be able to provide them with new pieces to compliment the refurbishment. This will ultimately help support the outstanding work they do within their local community."
