YMCA’s Prescott appointed to Sport England London Sports Board
Central YMCA’s chief executive, Rosi Prescott, has been appointed to Sport England’s London Sports Board in recognition of the fitness industry’s contribution, alongside sporting bodies, in shaping investment plans to encourage a fitter nation and London’s Olympic strategy.
“Central YMCA is in an excellent position to contribute to the work of the board,” said Prescott. “Not only do we contribute at policy level, but our grass roots activities are highly practical. Our first-hand experience of delivering activity, either through volunteer schemes or fitness qualifications, provides invaluable first-hand experience and understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.
“Within the context of investment for activity and lifestyle choices that improve all round health and the excitement that the Olympics will create, the fitness industry has a major role to play alongside organised sports.”
According to Matt Delaney, director of Sport England London, Sport England has already distributed more than £200m to deliver sport in London.
