YOTEL budget hotel concept launched
YO! founder Simon Woodroffe has launched a new budget hotel brand at Gatwick Airport’s south terminal.
The YOTEL concept – which will be rolled out in other city and airport locations – is inspired by first-class airline cabins and features rooms measuring just 10sq m (107sq ft).
“Travelling can be a painful experience so we are looking to make it as pleasurable as possible for YOTEL customers,” said Woodroffe. “We expect this radical approach to be extremely popular with a range of consumers and are looking to expand YOTEL globally.”
Guests will be able to stay in the rooms for a minimum of four-hours in either premium or standard rooms.
Each cabin will have wardrobe space, a desk, adjustable mood lighting, a shower and a flat-screen TV. Premium cabins will have a double bed that converts into a couch at the touch of a button.
The 46-room Gatwick site is the first hotel built inside a UK airport terminal, but a YOTEL will be opening at Heathrow in the coming months.
