Yo! Sushi adopts traffic light method
Yo! Sushi, the Japanese restaurant chain, has become the first restaurant group to adopt the Food Standards Agency’s (FSA) colour-coded traffic light labelling approach.
The system, which is commonly used in supermarkets, aims to help customers keep a check on the amounts of food high in fat, saturated fat, sugars and salt they consume.
A red light means the food is high in something they should cut down on, while a green light shows the healthiest option. An amber light is, predictably, somewhere in between.
Yo! Sushi’s health & hygiene manager, Ian Turner, said: “Our decision to adopt the FSA’s traffic light approach in our nutritional booklet is a sign of our ongoing commitment in helping our customers enjoy a nutritious and balanced meal.
“Complementing our freshly prepared Japanese-inspired dishes, this at-a-glance nutritional system will be an additional benefit to all our health-conscious customers.”
Yo! Sushi was acquired by Quilvest earlier this month for an estimated £50m.
