£1.58m grant for Pontmorlais regeneration plans
The Pontmorlais area of Merthyr Tydfil is to benefit from regeneration work after receiving £1.58m from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) through the Townscape Heritage Initiative.
It is expected the investment will go towards the restoration of 15 historic buildings, with the scheme to be led by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
Meanwhile, a further three projects across Wales - in Hay-on-Wye; Montgomeryshire; and Cardiff - have been handed first round passes towards grants worth a total of £1.6m.
Among the additional schemes to benefit is the second phase of The Cardiff Story, which is to receive initial support of £661,000 to further develop the six-month-old museum.
