£1m for Scottish golf
Sportscotland has increased its investment in Scottish golf by earmarking more than £1m for the development of the sport.
The money being made available will fund the Clubgolf programme and support the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association (SLGA) as well as assist the Scottish Golf Union's (SGU) day-to-day operations.
Announcing the funding, Louise Martin, sportscotland chair, said: "Our focus is to ensure that Scotland further develops its reputation as a golfing nation.
"That is why sportscotland works closely with the Scottish Golf Union and Scottish Ladies Golfing Association to identify how our investment and support can really make a difference.
"From advising on strategy to providing funding for key coaching and development posts we are committed to the sport of golf from top to bottom and the numerous benefits it brings to the country."
Martin aso said that a recent awareness campaign, Love Golf? Join the Club, has seen an boost in the number of members at golf clubs, while an increase in the amount of clubs signing up to the nationwide Clubgolf programme has lead to many developing their junior sections.
