£220k expansion for public sector spa
Pendle Leisure Trust (PLT) has joined forces with Alliance Leisure for a £220,000 extension of Inside Spa.
The work will form part of a wider £3m redevelopment of the Pendle Wavelengths, which is located in Nelson, Lancashire. It was one of the UK's first public sector spas when it opened in 2007. A relaxation room for larger groups and a further four treatment rooms will be built as part of the project, while the reception area will become a manicure and pedicure bar.
PLT chief executive officer Phil Storey said: "The spa is now in its fourth year of operation and the demand is incredible. "Between 2008-09 and 2009-10, we tracked 30 per cent increase in public spend within our facilities. This financial year alone we have already witnessed a further 18 per cent growth."
Alliance Leisure managing director Sarah Watts added: "In line with the government's vision of long term health and wellbeing within local communities, we are proud to be partnering with Pendle Leisure Trust to complete the second phase of this pioneering spa experience."
