£4m Ferrers facilities open
Chelmsford Borough Council has opened its new £4m swimming and sports facility at South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre.
Funding for the facilities was came from the Sport England Lottery Fund – which provided about £2m – and a combination of the Borough Council, the Town Council, the County Council, local organisations and William de Ferrers School, which contributed the land.
The centre’s fitness suite was also refurbished and a floodlit multi-use sport area constructed as part of the project.
The site was officially opened by Olympic medallist Duncan Goodhew.
