$400m Movie World theme park launched in Spain
Warner Bros has opened its third Movie World in San Mart'n de la Vega, near Madrid in Spain.
The $400m Movie World Madrid spans 250 hectares and architects the Cuningham Group have created five themed areas with more than 75 rides.
The Hollywood Boulevard zone recreates the glamorous Hollywood of the 1930s and 40s, while Cartoon Village caters for small children and includes a Tasmanian Devil raft ride and a Tom & Jerry rollercoaster.
The parks largest zone, the Old West Territory, is inspired by Warner Bros countless westerns and DC Super Heroes World is dedicated to Batman and Superman. The Warner Bros Studio zone, themed to resemble a production studio and backlot, recreates a film studio atmosphere with a series of stunt shows, laser and firework displays.
'We wanted to give our guests a sense of arriving in a place of fantasy and glamour, a world never seen before,' said creative director for the park, Eric Jany.
The park is the result of a partnership between Warner Bros, the city of Madrid and theme park company Six Flags, which owns and manages 38 parks worldwide.
