£15m Llanelli leisure scheme to take shape
Carmarthenshire Council has revealed that construction work on a £15m leisure scheme in Llanelli could commence by the end of March.
Henry Davidson Developments is delivering the Eastern Gateway Development, which is set to include a six-screen Regal Cinema and a 53-bedroom Travelodge. A number of pubs and restaurants; nearly 2,000sq m (21,528sq ft) of office space; and a new town square are also planned, along with retail units.
According to Henry Davidson Developments, the scheme is already 50 per cent let and the council will not be required to commit any additional funding. Carmarthenshire Council executive regeneration board member Clive Scourfield said: "It has been a tough time for Llanelli with a number of awkward hurdles delaying progress.
"But the promise from this Eastern Gateway development for the future bodes well for the town." Neal Dale, development manager at Henry Davidson Developments, added: "To be in a situation to be possible starting on site in this climate is a massive good news story to tell."
