£1m funding for historic Scottish properties
Scottish culture and external affairs secretary Fiona Hyslop has provided more than £1m to help protect six historic properties through the Building Repair Grants scheme.
More than £430,000 will be used to stabilise and repair Ham Girnal in Caithness, which will see the 18th century grain store used as a cultural hub for the performing arts.
Braemar Castle, Deeside, will receive £144,600 and will help the property's trustees to work towards establishing the castle as a tourist attraction and local education resource.
Other properties awarded funding were Crichton Memorial Church, Dumfries (£282,700); Hay Memorial Hall, Banff (£24,666); and Maybole Castle, Ayrshire (£109,024).
The Old Courthouse in Campbeltown (£275,000) is the sixth recipient of funding, which is being distributed by Historic Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government.
