£2.5m redevelopment of Leicester's Spinney Hill Park completed
Leicester mayor Sir Peter Soulsby and members of the local community have officially opened the city's Spinney Hill Park following the completion of a £2.5m refurbishment.
The project, which took two years to complete, was awarded Heritage Lottery Fund support following a bid by Leicester City Council, the Friends of Spinney Hill Park and park users.
Work included the installation of new footpaths; the restoration of historic features such as the fountain; and the naturalisation of the park brook. New viewing platforms also feature.
Sir Peter said: "Spinney Hill Park is a lovely city park but these refurbishments have made it really outstanding."
